Fabric

FireWear public safety shirts are made of flame resistant 5.5 oz blend of 55% FFR™ 45% Cotton. FFR™ is a fibrous flame retardant fiber which works by emitting a noncombustible gas which smothers the flame much like a fire extinguisher.   

The FireWear fabric meets or exceeds the following:

NFPA Standards 1971, 1975, 1977, 70E
ASTM - F1506
OSHA 1910.269

Features

- Topps FireWear public safety shirts come in both a short sleeve and a long sleeve with a button up front closure
- 3-ply banded collar with sewn in stays for a more rigid collar
- Five military crease that are sewn-in and epaulets  
- Two front pleated chest pockets with scalloped flaps
- Chest pockets have hook and loop closures on each corner of the pocket flaps
- 2-ply yoke and a placket front
- Long sleeve style has adjustable button closures on sleeve cuffs
- Long shirt tails that have rounded bottoms
- Loose badge tab (in pocket)
- FireWear fabric is sewn throughout with Nomex® thread

Applications

The Topps FireWear clothing is used in most areas involving ferrous metals such as foundries, flame cutting, welding etc. Also used in electrical utilities and chemical, oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Flame Resistance

FireWear public safety shirts are inherently flame resistant for the life of the garment and this property can not be degraded by laundering.

The FireWear flame resistant public safety shirts made by Topps Safety Apparel are designed to offer a lighter weight shirt that is also more breathable and has a high moisture regain. The 55% FFR (Fibrous Flame Retardant Fiber) content of the FireWear work shirts works in a way that the FFR emits a noncombustible gas through the microscopic pores in the fiber which smothers the flame much like a fire extinguisher.
