     Red Kap Lab Coats are available in an assorted variety of styles as shown above. There are men's and women's medical lab coats, specialized lab coats, staff and PST lab coats for your convenience.

 Lab coats are an important component of personal protective equipment as the coats provide for a barrier from certain substances in a medical lab or other facility. Poly/cotton blend Lab coats have the ability to shed liquids much better then 100% cotton coats as the cotton will absorb liquid associated with the medical profession more readily then the poly/cotton blend.  
    The ease of which a lab coat can be put on and taken off is of most importance as it has been found that people are more likely to wear personal protective clothing when it is easy for them to get on and off. This is especially true in operations where the garments are not worn on a continuous bases. 

    In the medical profession OSHA sets the following guidelines in 29 CFR 1910.1030, Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.

• Personal Protective Equipment - Paragraph (d)(3). When there is occupational exposure, PPE must be provided at no cost to the employee to prevent blood or OPIM from passing through to, or contacting, the employees' work or street clothes, undergarments, skin, eyes, mouth, or other mucous membranes.
  
  
• Paragraph (d)(3)(i). The type and amount of PPE must be chosen to protect against contact with blood or OPIM based upon the type of exposure and quantity of these substances reasonably anticipated to be encountered during the performance of a task or procedure.
