Applications

Flame Resistant Chemical splash Disposable Coveralls Excel® FR is an impervious laminate with chemical abatement properties. Chemical penetration testing of Excel® FR has been conducted in accordance with ASTM F 1001, liquid challenges only, using ASTM F 903, Procedure C. Please refer to applicable product literature for data related to specific chemical splash challenges for the Excel® FR disposable coveralls. Excel® FR is also classified as accepted for use in Class C: Particulate Abatement activities.

Excel® FR meets the flammability requirements of NFPA701-89 and the flammability requirements of CAN/CGSB 4.2-M77.

Flame Resistant Chemical splash Disposable Coveralls Excel® FR is not used for asbestos removal and is not designed as a primary source of thermal protection and must be worn over suitable flame resistant apparel.

Applications

Flame resistant Extend® FR disposable coveralls are highly breathable and offer about 80% filtration efficiency against particles in the 2-5 micron range. It is classified as acceptable for use in Class C: Particulate Abatement activities. Garments made of this fabric can extend the life of more expensive thermal protective garments by preventing flammable contaminants from soiling the fabric.

Both Extend® FR and Excel® FR are Bulwark® trademarks for Precision Fabrics Groups limited use / disposable hydroentangled coveralls which are topically treated with flame retardant chemicals. The flame resistant treatment is a non durable phosphate based compound with a florochemical additive for water and oil repellency. Water repellency allows Extend®  flame resistant disposable coveralls to withstand minor splashes without saturation. With Excel®  flame resistant disposable coveralls, the substrate fabric is laminated to a clear PVC film and hot melt polyurethane making an impervious laminate with chemical abatement properties. Both Extend®  FR and Excel®  FR will burn in the presence of an ignition source, but will self-extinguish when the ignition source is removed.

Flame Resistant Disposable Coveralls Product Benefits

    Softguard flame resistant disposable coveralls are designed to be worn over your regular flame resistant apparel to protect against certain chemicals, liquids, paint, oil and grease. The flame resistant properties of the Softguard disposable coveralls also adds to the protection from flash fire or electric arc due to having another FR layer over your regular FR garments.
    Softguard disposable coveralls also extend the life of the flame resistant apparel such as Nomex or Indura by protecting the under garments from becoming contaminated by flammable substances.

All SoftGuard disposable flame resistant fabrics employ a base fabric of DuPont Sontara hydrentangled woodpulp/polyester fabric - a tough, lightweight, breathable cloth-like material. The fabric is then topically treated with a phosphate-based flame-retardant chemical.

The combination of the woodpulp and the FR chemistry causes the woodpulp to char at temperatures below the fabric's ignition point. This deprives the flames of a fuel source and provides a dry, rigid structure for component polymers to adhere to, preventing molten or flaming drips. This makes Softguard flame resistant disposable coveralls unique in protecting your employees and your other flame resistant apparel.
